The club is saddened to hear of the passing of another club stalwart/legend in Eddie Mapperson
Ed was an all-round great sportsman and a bit of a fitness fanatic in his early days.
A life member of both the Eltham Football Club and Eltham Cricket Club
Eddie played for the club from the late 40s to the mid 60s. Was a dual premiership player being a member of the 1949 and 1953 Premiership sides.
Ed also coached the reserves grade side in the mid 60s.
Eddie played his 200th A Grade game for the club in 1963
At the end of Ed’s playing days he took up umpiring, both boundary and then goal umpiring (in the early days club volunteers) and holds the League record of 843 A grade games as either a Player or Umpire
The club wishes to express it’s sincere condolences to the Mapperson family.
